Denca creates PLC ‘recipe for success’ at Duerrs


DuerrsDenca have installed the PLC solution for Duerr’s new jam cooking plant in Wythenshawe, Manchester.

Working closely with F. Duerr & Sons Ltd., to develop a system that fully met all operating requirements, Denca created a solution that provides enhanced recipe management as well as control of all operations from cooking through to the jar filling lines.

As part of the project, which embraced the use of Siemens S7 PLC, two I/O racks and integrated safety systems, Denca have written and verified all necessary software, completed panel builds, installed all cabling and pneumatics, considered all aspects of sequencing and fully function-tested the new system.

To minimise any impact on production of some of Britain’s leading jams, marmalades and peanut butters, all work was completed during a scheduled plant shutdown for which stock levels were built up.
