Connection with our local community is important to us and over the past fortnight, we have welcomed two local school students, Adjei & Ewan, into Denca for some work experience.
Every year we open our doors to students who want to get a flavour of the industrial automation world. This year, like every year before, we have seen two outstanding young people who were very quick to apply themselves, showing initiative day in and day out.
We typically allow the students into control panel manufacturing and the design department . However this year, Ewan expressed his interest in software development. Consequently, we tried something new by giving him some time with the software engineers. This shift seems to have been as a great success and we are now considering it as an option for future work experience.
Our operations manager, Garath Coulter, organises these annual events and spends time with each of our temporary employees.
Here are his thoughts:
"Over the last few weeks, we have had the pleasure of introducing school learners to the world of industrial automation.
Our visitors had a great attitude to learning and enjoyed getting stuck in which was great to see.
Always a delight to give some insights into automation and working life in general to the next generation of engineers."
Our work experience programme is mainly in collaboration with Wade Deacon High School. The team at the school identifies students who express an interest in Engineering as potential work experience candidates.
Of course, we are also happy to consider candidates from other schools and other areas. Please get in touch if you would like to know more
