Investing in Leadership Capability

A key pillar of Denca’s growth and development strategy is internal investment in the talent we have under our roof. This commitment, over the last thirty years, empowers our team and nurtures their skills. It is why we are where we are today and we are routinely vindicated in this initiative.

As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering a consistently high standard of service, we have recently supported members of our team through recognised management and leadership training. Three team members have undertaken a Level 4 qualification in Management and Leadership. Furthermore, a senior director completed a Level 7 Strategic Management and Leadership Practice course. All training is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

The Level 4 (CMI) programme focuses on core management disciplines. The Level 7 (CMI) Strategic Management and Leadership Practice course builds on this foundation. It covers areas in a more in-depth capacity and from a leadership perspective. They also explores coaching, mentoring and the development of resilient, adaptable teams, capable of responding to evolving business demands. All elements which are crucial in our rapidly evolving industry. By aligning practical management capability with strategic oversight, we can ensure that projects are executed efficiently, communication remains clear, and decision-making is both informed and consistent. The result is a more robust service delivery model that supports quality, reliability and the assurance of excellence our clients expect.

Some thoughts from participants:
"Completing the CMI Level 7 qualification has been a valuable and rewarding experience. The course challenged me to think more strategically, strengthen my leadership capabilities, and apply management theories to real-world organisational situations. It has increased my confidence in decision-making, enhanced my ability to lead teams effectively, and provided practical tools that I can use in my Director role. It was good to hear of other experiences within similar positions and the challenges they face.”Steve Walsh, Technical Director
"The CMI Management and Leadership (Level 4) course opened my eyes with valuable knowledge and ideas that I will be able to apply directly within my management role. I believe it has strengthened my leadership skills, improved my confidence when making decisions, and enhanced my ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers. The course has also helped me develop a clear and long term plan in how I go about managing the service department, improving performance, and supporting employee development. Overall, it has made a significant positive impact on my management role which I will use going forward."  David Leyland,  Technical Services Manager
"Completing the CMI Level 4 Management and Leadership qualification has increased my confidence in my ability to manage and influence people across our different departments within a traditionally male dominated working environment. This course has equipped me with tools to enhance communication and support decision making. I believe that this has provided a strong foundation for future progression into senior management roles, I would encourage anyone who wishes to progress in management to complete this course." Clare Callaghan, Project Manager
