Moving forward with Design Engineering

Design Engineering is at the heart of Denca Controls

Design Engineering at the Heart of Denca

Design Engineering is, and always has been, at the heart of Denca. Since our establishment in 1995, EC&I has been fundamental to the way we deliver solutions for our customers. As Denca has evolved, so too have the technologies, industries and requirements we work with. Alongside this evolution, our commitment to producing high-quality and bespoke engineering solutions has remained constant. From control panel design and manufacture through to complex automation projects, our engineering expertise provides the foundation for the business we have built over the past three decades.

Evolving with Growth

Growth delivers opportunity, but it also brings new challenges. As Denca has expanded, so has the scale and complexity of the projects we undertake. Mission-critical projects bring increasing customer expectations and call on the rapid developments in industrial technology. Over the past year, these factors have highlighted areas within our engineering and testing processes where our established practices needed to evolve alongside the business. We recognise that periods of growth can bring teething issues as teams, structures and processes adapt to a changing organisation. It was essential that these challenges did not become ingrained. We have taken the opportunity to address them proactively and strengthen the foundations of the department.

Investing in the Team

A key part of that response has been significant investment in the structure and capability of our engineering department. Over the past year, we have strengthened the team through targeted recruitment. We have brought additional experience and expertise into the business while continuing to develop the next generation of Denca engineers. Alongside this investment in people we have introduced structural changes designed to provide clearer accountability. Adaptive leadership and improved collaboration across all departments have benefited the whole business. The aim is straightforward: to strengthen a department with the right structure, responsibilities and support in place to consistently deliver projects to the standards we promise.

Improving Tools and Processes Behind the Scenes

Investment doesn’t stop at staff and continues to the systems, software and processes that underpin our engineering work. We have increased our investment in EPLAN, including EPLAN Pro Panel 3D alongside reviewing and improving our engineering and testing processes to provide greater consistency across projects. By combining better tools with clearer procedures and more secure ways of working, we are improving our quality control and project visibility from initial design through to testing and delivery. These changes are about more than simply introducing new software; they are about ensuring our engineers have the resources necessary to do their jobs effectively and proficiently.

Building for the Future

The changes we have made are part of a wider, long-term commitment to continuous improvement at Denca. We are proud of the engineering capability that has been built within the business over the past 30 years, and we recognise that maintaining that standard requires us to continually invest in our people, technology and processes. By responding constructively to the lessons that come with growth, we are strengthening our engineering and testing capabilities for the years ahead. Most importantly, our customers can continue to expect the same promise that has underpinned Denca at our humble beginnings: high-quality engineering, dependable delivery and a commitment to excellence that we intend to maintain for many years to come.
